Greenhouse Mildew Control: Cinnerate Spray Guide

Caution – Smells Like Cinnamon

.04-.08 oz (1.18-2.37 mL) Cinnerate per 16 oz
For many gardeners, winter is a season of waiting. Some are looking out at snow-covered landscapes, while others in milder climates keep their gardens going year-round. And then there are those with greenhouses—whether commercial setups, hobby spaces for fresh winter greens, or cozy homes for decorative plants.
Greenhouses provide excellent growing conditions, but unfortunately, those same conditions are just as inviting to powdery mildew, bacteria, and other plant diseases. Warm, humid air with limited airflow creates the perfect breeding ground for problems, whether in a full greenhouse or a propagation corner in your garage.
One simple way to stay ahead of mildew is with a light foliar spray. Using proper PPE and safety protocols, mix 0.04–0.08 oz (1.18–2.37 mL) of Cinnerate into a standard 16 oz spray bottle. You can apply it as a spot treatment to infected leaves or as a broadcast spray across your plants. For even better results, you can add surfactants (to improve spreading) or foliar fertilizers. I like pairing it with Eckosil Shield (which we hope to have available on our website soon) for added protection against environmental stress.
A quick word of caution: Cinnerate smells strongly of cinnamon oil—its active ingredient. Don’t be surprised if your greenhouse takes on a spicy aroma after spraying!
When applying, be mindful of water droplets forming on leaves. Under bright grow lights, these droplets can act like magnifying lenses and burn your plants. The safest times to spray are at night, after lights go off, or early in the morning before lights turn on.
Finally, always remember:
- Conduct a jar test to check compatibility before mixing products.
- Confirm plant safety before wide application.
- Follow all safety requirements for each product.
Mixing can sometimes create unwanted reactions or increase the risk of plant damage. With a careful approach, though, this simple cinnamon-scented spray can be a powerful tool in keeping your greenhouse plants healthy all winter long.
Label Review
Before mixing or applying any product, make sure to carefully review the label for required PPE. For example, Cinnerate users must wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, socks, shoes, protective eyewear, and chemical-resistant gloves.
Cinnerate is typically applied at a ¼% to ½% concentration. To make mixing easier, here’s a quick chart showing how much Cinnerate is needed for different container sizes:
